Delivering veterinary supplies - ongoing
Many of the most basic, life-saving veterinary supplies are simply not available in Cameroon. Generous donors in the US provide a wide range of needed materials, from equipment to meds to surgical instruments; Act provides transport and makes sure they arrive safe and sound. Girls of Mefou: dignity, equity and education
In sub-Saharan Africa the benefits of education couldn't be more clear cut: Girls who stay in school dramatically reduce their own mortality and that of their children, significantly increase their families' economic well-being, and put less pressure on the forest. Our project has helped more than 1,000 young girls like Chantal stay in school by providing them sustainable hygiene kits, education and support. Read about meeting up with the girls on our blog...
New classroom for village school - ready for dedication!
Education is critical to local conservation. The Oveng primary school is getting a much-needed new classroom, courtesy of community members who made the bricks, and the expertise and manpower of Ape Action Africa's construction staff. Community sanitation - complete
With funding provided by Palo Alto Rotary Club, and sourced by Act, Ape Action Africa built the first ever sturdy sanitation facilities at 6 elementary schools neighboring the park. The dedication was quite the celebration. More here...
New motorcycle for the education officers - complete
Ape Action Africa sends educators into the classrooms of area schools, journeys of many kilometers along challenging (!) roads. When the old motorcycle just couldn't be repaired anymore, Act projects raised funds for a new one. And yes, it is covered in bubble wrap!
